Social Justice

                              Tikkun Olam

Our Statement of Principles commits us to Avodah (Prayer), Torah (Study) and G'milut Hasadim/Tikkun Olam (Acts of Caring and Repair of the World): "Through acts of caring and repair we seek to transform our world so that it reflects the divine values of justice and compassion." The work of Tikkun Olam is central to our existence as a community.

Our work for Tikkun Olam takes many forms: Committees and working groups formed at Mishkan Shalom, and Mishkan's participation with other faith communities and public organizations. Read brief descriptions of each group on our Tikkun Olam page. From there, you can access more detailed descriptions of the work of each group.

If you are interested in Tikkum Olam activities but are not sure where you fit in, or are interested in Mishkan Shalom becoming active in something you don't see listed here, please contact our Board of Director's Tikkun Olam Representative, David Love or Rabbi Shawn Zevit to see what we can make happen.

Acts of Caring

The Acts of Caring Committee serves to bring Mishkan members together virtually and spiritually — and sometimes physically — to share in members' life cycle events and offer help in times of need. Click here for full descriptions of the work of our Acts of Caring Committee, including short-term, practical, support thru Hineini.

To notify the G'milut Hasadim/Acts of Caring committee of a life-cycle event, or to suggest or request services through Hineini, please email: actsofcaring@mishkan.org.
