Spiritual Life Council

The Spiritual Life of the Mishkan Shalom community is attended to by Rabbi Shawn Zevit and the Spiritual Life Council. That list includes the following members:

Together they work to:

• Create and nurture a rich, inclusive, and expansive Jewish spiritual environment that incorporates prayer, music, art, food, ritual, movement, silence, meditation, and other sacred practices for the growth of our individual and communal souls (Neshama Pratit and Klalit).
• Envision and articulate ideas and possibilities to inspire members.
• Serve as a liaison between the community and the rabbi, with the support of the Board Representative for Spiritual Life.
• Discuss with the rabbi spiritual questions/issues of concern to the community.
Discuss standards of community observance and offer guidance to members.
• Be an educational resource to the congregation.
• Assist the rabbi in planning and coordinating Shabbat, holiday and summer services.   
• Provide ongoing care for, and maintenance of, ritual objects as needed.
• Use study and discussion to nourish the spiritual growth of the committee and its members.
• Integrate Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) as an intrinsic part of Spiritual life and offerings.
• Stand side by side doing the sacred work of justice with our Multifaith partners in Greater Philadelphia and beyond.
